In the masterpiece play (with dances) SACRIFICE by the Indian Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the King of Tripura, moved by the plight of a beggar girl, has forbidden blood sacrifices at the temple of Goddess Kali, located in his kingdom.
Everyone is astounded and frightened. And the queen herself had offered hundred's of animals to be sacrificed so the goddess would grant her a child. But above all the chief priest is furious and will stop at nothing to thwart the king's plan.
