“Visionary Man" is a new American musical that celebrates the true story of JB Murray and his calling at age 70 to create vivid abstract artistic masterpieces on anything he could find : adding machine tape, old planks, corrugated tin, televisions, and finally paper. Murray - a rural subsistence farmer from Glascock County, GA - had the first of what he called his 'visions from the Holy Spirit' in 1978. Over a period of 10 years, Murrays' visions would capture the imagination of his friends, his neighbors, and ultimately an international community of collectors, museums, and academics. The musical is a spirited look at a close-knit rural community that must come to terms with the passion, the vision, and the art of this enigmatic eccentric in their midst.
