Dr. Patricia Cataldo is a psychotherapist with a special celebrity clientele: They’re all couples from Shakespeare! She analyzes Kate and Petruchio; Macbeth and Lady Macbeth; Romeo and Juliet; Othello and Desdemona; Hamlet and Ophelia. She also has them all come in for group sessions.
They all trust her with their tender psyches. However, she has a few kinks of her own.
Dr. Cataldo’s case load is occasionally reduced by attrition. If you know any of Shakespeare’s plays, you’ll know how that happens.
Ted Lange directs. A mainstay of Los Angeles theatre as an actor and director, he is best known nationally for 250 episodes as Isaac Washington on “The Love Boat” (a series for which he also directed and wrote many episodes as well). He also directed episodes of many other series as well, among them “Mike Hammer,” “Moesha,””The Fall Guy,” “Dharma and Greg,” and more.
Playwright Lloyd J. Schwartz has had over thirty produced plays including “The Nearlyweds,” “Much A Dieux,” “You and Me,” “The Great Adventure,” “An Evening with John Wilkes Booth,” Final Exam,” “The Phantom: Country Style,” and has won 15 Valley Theatre League Awards. He and his wife Barbara co-founded the Storybook Theatre of Los Angeles - which has been based at Theatre West for 29 years. He has also worked extensively in television and movies as a writer, director, producer, creator, and executive producer, (Including almost every incarnation of Gilligan and Brady).
Ted Lange plays Othello (a role he played on film 25 years ago). His cast for “Classic Couples Counseling” also includes Anthony Gruppuso, Paul Gunning, Heather Keller, Anne Leyden, Barbara Mallory, Connie Mellors, Lindsey Ravage, Elliot Schwartz, Bill Sehres and Kimberly Woods.
Whether you’re a fan of Shakespeare or just want to enjoy a hilarious comedy, you will enjoy “Classic Couples Counseling”…..because laughter, after all, is the best therapy.
