“BLACK & BLUESTEIN”
A black family buying a house on your street? No big deal. But in St. Louis in 1963, it was a major "no-no," especially on an upscale, white, mostly Jewish street. Daniel Black, a black biochemist who drives a Jaguar, is going to buy the house he wants, even if it ruffles feathers. The house is owned by builder Jeff Bluestein, a Jewish
liberal who discovers that breaking the color barrier could break both his bank account and his marriage. There’s conflict, racial prejudice and Jewish guilt—the stuff that makes for tense drama and laugh-out-loud comedy. “You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll think.” The play and the cast has been praised by critics and sold-out audiences.
